Arusha is a popular starting point for your safari, therefore the park can be easily visited at the beginning or end of your adventure. It is a relatively small but beautiful park with a wide range of terrain. The dense, green montane forest yields to the moorland higher up, while Mount Meru looks down into the park and it's alkaline Momela Lakes. This is also one of the few parks where you can get out and walk a little. While you step out of your vehicle to watch the colobus monkeys play, you can also look down into the unspoiled beauty of Ngurdoto Crater. There is another wonderful view from 'Buffalo Point' which you can also walk to. The Momela Lakes which are surrounded by a mixture of moor and grasslands, are often filled with pink flamingos. Often Blue-green algae blooms in some of the lakes giving them incredible color.
